If you are installing on a multi-computer system repeat this installation
procedure for each computer.
• For a First Workplace installation: Select Client and Server.
• For Additional Workplace installation: Select Client.

10
Create System
Create
After Installation, you have to create a system. For more information, see
Installation manual, Chapter 5, Configuration.

1. Log on with administrator privileges on the First Workplace.

2. Start the Configuration Wizard from Start> Programs> ABB Industrial
IT> Configuration Wizard.
3. Create a new system by selecting the Create System icon and click Next.
4. Enter name and description for the new system. For Server type:
Choose Aspect Server and Connectivity Server. Click Next.

5. Define paths to data directories. When you define paths to the data
directories, use a disc locally mounted to the server node. Click Next.
6. Select the SCADA Portal check box in the load option part to the left
in the Define System Extensions dialog.
Note: Do not select the SCADA Portal check box in the start option
part to the right in the Define System Extensions dialog.

11
7. Click Next. The settings will now be applied. This action will take a
few minutes.
8. Select the System Administration icon and click Next.

9. Select your system and click Next.

10. Select the SCADA Portal Server icon and click Next to start the
configuration wizard for the SCADA functionality.
11. Follow the instructions.
Keep the default MMS-address and click Next.

12. Exit.

12
Start the system
Start the system by choosing Startup manager found under the Start menu>
Programs> ABB Industrial IT> Scada. Select the Process status tab and click
the Startup button and watch the process status go green.

13
Creating new SCADA object types
Creating
To engineer your system, start a new Workplace from Start Menu> Pro-
grams> ABB Industrial IT> Start Workplace, and select Plant Explorer Work-
place from Available Workplaces and click Open.

SCADA object types are created and maintained in the Object Type Struc-
ture and specifically located under the green SCADA object. New Object
types can be based on existing types or can be made from scratch. The
SCADA object types can be configured with four different basic SCADA
signal types:
• SCADA Binary signal type
• SCADA Integer signal type
• SCADA Real signal type
• SCADA String signal type

The green SCADA object has a configuration aspect object SCADA

Configuration which, when selected, shows a yellow box in the preview
area.

This button with a yellow box icon brings up the configuration dialog:

14
Enter a new name for the object type you want to create. Click on one of
the previously defined objects if you want to base your type on one of
them.

Name your new object type MyNewType and you will see that upon
completion you have the new object type icon in the object type structure.

Now you have only created the basis for your SCADA object. To configure
SCADA signals for your Object type you first click on your newly created
object type object in the Object Type Structure in the tree view area. The
Aspect view area now shows all the aspects. Select the SCADA Process

15
Object Configuration aspect. In the Preview area you have the configuration
menu where you can select the four previously mentioned SCADA signal
types as required. As you add new signals they will appear under the
selected object under the SCADA object type.

Notice that the template has an extended hierarchy before the SCADA
signal objects appear. The type object will appear twice in this structure, the
second object as a child to a formal instance list object. The formal instance
list object defines in which structure the type will instantiate the object and
as default the object must be created in the Control Structure. You will later
see that the instantiated object structure will not contain the formal instance
list level, but only a one level structure.

As you add your required signals for this object you configure each signal
with the desired type characteristics. Each SCADA signal has a signal
configuration aspect that exposes all relevant engineering defaults. These
defaults can later be changed optionally (if necessary), for the instantiated
objects, that is, you do not have to make a new type if an object only has
small deviations from the type.

The SCADA object signals contain only the mandatory aspects at this stage.
You can at this stage also consider adding additional aspect objects like
Word documents with technical specifications and/or WEB references for
your newly created object type and so on. It can of course be done later as
all instantiated objects will have inheritance from the template objects.

Controller
Controllers are defined in the Control Structure. Select the SCADA object in
the Control structure and then select the SCADA configuration in the Aspect
area.

Push the yellow New Controller button in the preview area and a new
dialog will appear, New Controller.

Type the name of the new controller and select a protocol to be used. Click
the Edit Driver button to configure the driver. Confirm with OK. Click OK in
the New Controller dialog. Click Apply in the preview area and the system

17
will start to create a new controller. The new controller will appear in the
control structure under the SCADA object.

18
Creating a new Object instance
Creating
Objects are created in the Control Structure by using Object types made in
advance. Select the SCADA object in the Control structure and then select
the SCADA configuration in the Aspect area.

Push the yellow New Object button in the preview area and a new
dialog will appear, Create New Object.

Type the name of the new object and select the object type it should be
based on. Select the relevant controller from the controller list. Confirm
with OK. Click Apply in the preview area and the system will start to create
a new object. The new object will appear in the control structure under the
SCADA object. Now you have an object pre-configured according to the
object type.

19
The signals of the new object should now be connected to addresses in the
controller. This is done in the ID tab found in the preview area of the signal
configuration for each signal. The format of the address is defined by the
protocol in use for the specific controller.

For more information, click the Show Help button in the preview area.
