2.7.1 Wavelength, Frequency and Velocity

Is a mechanical wave that is an oscillation of pressure transmitted through a solid,

liquid, or gas, composed of frequencies within the range of hearing and of a level
sufficiently strong to be heard, or the sensation stimulated in organs of hearing by
such vibrations.

Wave Types in Solids Particle Vibrations

Longitudinal Parallel to wave direction
Transverse (Shear) Perpendicular to wave direction
Surface - Rayleigh Elliptical orbit - symmetrical mode
Plate Wave - Lamb Component perpendicular to surface (extensional wave)
Plate Wave - Love Parallel to plane layer, perpendicular to wave direction
Stoneley (Leaky Rayleigh Waves) Wave guided along interface
Sezawa Ant symmetric mode
