GROWTH IN ADDITION TO PCs

Atom Multitasks – In 2010, Intel unveiled several software- and hardware-related efforts as the company
intensifies its system-on chip (SoC) product plans based on the Intel® Atom™ processor family and
expands into several new market segments beyond its growing PC, laptop and server businesses.
Highlights include:
 Plans to further differentiate the popular netbook category; a new Atom platform that brings
significant power reductions for great battery life and even smaller devices, while delivering
outstanding Intel performance; A collaboration with Google*, Sony* and Logitech* to deliver a
new smart TV experience powered by Intel Atom processors and running Android*-based
Google TV*; the new Intel® Atom™ E600 SoC processor that, for the first time, will allow other
companies to connect their own custom silicon to Intel's SoC product.
 The Intel Atom processor-based platform comprised about 4,500 embedded designs engagements
and 1,500 design wins as of the third quarter of 2010, with 45 percent of customers for Intel
Atom processors new to Intel – ranging from farm tractors, fish finders to golf carts. The Intel
Atom processor has been the fastest-ramping product in Intel’s embedded history with 2 million
shipments. Intel expects to ship more than 2 million Intel Atom processors this year.

SOFTWARE
MeeGo – Intel and Nokia* announced MeeGo, a Linux-based software platform that will support multiple
hardware architectures across the broadest range of device segments, including pocketable mobile
computers, netbooks, tablets, media phones, connected TVs and in-vehicle infotainment systems.

AppUp Center – Intel launched its software application (app) store – the Intel AppUp SM center – offering
netbook users quick and easy access to applications specifically tailored to their mobile lifestyle. Four other
Intel industry partners – Acer*, Asus*, Dell* and Samsung* – also announced store collaboration and plans.

ENTERPRISE – SERVER, BUSINSS CLASS PCs

Intel’s New Cloud Mission – Intel announced three key elements to its “Cloud 2015” vision: a “federated”
cloud that allows enterprises to share data across internal and external clouds; an “automated” network that
automatically allows the secure movement of applications and resources to significantly improve energy
efficiency in data centers; and PC and device-savvy “client-aware” clouds that know what types of
applications, commands and processing should take place in the cloud or on your laptop, smart phone or
other device.

Innovations in Server Processors – Intel announced the Xeon 5600 processor series, the first 32nm
technology-based enterprise-class processors. The new processors delivered two new security features,
providing data centers with a stronger foundation for cloud security and server virtualization. With 60
percent greater performance than the previous-generation processor, data centers can replace 15 single-
core servers with one server and achieve a return on their investment in as little as five months.
New Business Processor Family for Business PCs – Intel introduced a new version of the 2010 Intel®
Core™ processor family specifically designed to meet the needs of businesses of all sizes for PCs with
greater, more flexible performance, theft prevention and cost savings in a rapidly changing business
computing environment.

Itanium Launch – Intel introduced the Itanium® processor 9300 series which delivers more than double
the performance of its predecessor boosts scalability and adds reliability features to the Itanium platform
that is already running mission-critical applications for 80 percent of the Global 100 corporations.

RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT

Connecting at the Speed of Light – To dramatically increase data speed like video and music to a PC
and reduce a computer's cable clutter, Light Peak, an Intel-led optical cable I/O technology project, is
being developed to run starting at 10Gbs and support multiple I/O protocols with growing industry
support from leading companies like Sony and Nokia.

Research@Intel – Intel Labs showed off some of the most exciting futuristic technology in development
at the annual Research @ Intel Day, below are a few examples:

 User experience technologies – Current work around context and location has yielded a range of
insights and technological possibilities. For example, the idea that devices will understand their
surroundings, communicate with each other and change behavior or take actions based on the
user's environment.
 Low-cost energy sensor – These sensors could help change the way consumers manage personal
energy consumption at home. When coupled with a home information display, it would monitor
usage, recommend solutions for more efficiency and reward success.
 Changes a user's engagement with technology – Research was shown using projection and 3-D
cameras to light up nearby surfaces displaying buttons, windows, images and movies onto work
surfaces, tabletops or other flat spaces. The video and vision system is able to recognize hand
gestures and objects, turning everyday surfaces such as a kitchen counter, coffee table or
classroom desk into an interactive portal to the device and the Internet.

 4G WiMAX Global Momentum – Intel continues its commitment to and investment in

WiMAX, the next-generation 4G wireless broadband technology. In the United States, WiMAX
is currently available in more than 70 markets and worldwide there are currently more than 500
commercial deployments in 147 countries.

 Intel Wireless Display for Easier Media Integration – Intel Wireless Display is a new
capability on select Intel Core Processor Family systems that allows an individual to display the
content of their laptop on an HDTV quickly and securely. This award-winning technology makes
it possible to enjoy and share Internet TV, videos, photos and music on a big-screen HDTV from
the comfort of a couch wirelessly. More than 50 systems are now in the market with this
technology.

CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY AND MARKETING

Corporate Social Responsibility – As a global technology and business leader for more than 40 years,
Intel believes it is uniquely positioned to help drive environmental sustainability, improve education and
give back to the communities in which it operates -- both through the innovative application of
technology and through the hands-on commitment and leadership it provides.
 Education – In March, the Intel Foundation awarded $100,000 to the winner of America’s oldest
and most prestigious pre-college science competition, the annual Intel Science Talent Search, a
program of the Society for Science & the Public (SSP). Then in May, 1,611 young scientists from
59 countries, regions and territories traveled to San Jose, Calif. to compete for nearly $4 million
in awards at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair, also an SSP program. The top
winner received $75,000 from the Intel Foundation and the Gordon E. Moore Award, given for
the first time in 2010 in honor of the Intel co-founder and retired chairman and CEO. In June
2010, Intel President and CEO Paul Otellini accepted the Committee Encouraging Corporate
Philanthropy (CECP) Chairman's Award, which recognized Intel Teach – which has reached

more than 8 million teachers in more than 60 countries – as an excellent corporate philanthropy
program.

 Environment – For the third year in a row, Intel was named the No. 1 corporate purchaser of
green power in the United States by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and received its
third consecutive Green Power Leadership Award from the U.S. EPA. Intel also announced plans
for eight new solar projects at its facilities in four U.S. states and obtained its first Leadership in
Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification – the internationally recognized stamp of
approval from the U.S. Green Building Council – for Intel Design Center 9 (IDC 9), which
opened in Haifa, Israel, in June. Intel also maintained its top five ranking in NEWSWEEK’s
Green Rankings of the 500 largest publicly traded companies in the U.S.
