Wright announces his
run for state Senate
• SALTILLO - Businessman and
attorney Doug Wright confirmed
Monday he will seek the District 6
state Senate seat soon to be va­
cated by Alan Nunnelee.
He is thefirsfto officially an­
nounce his candidacy, doing so in
ae-mailed press release.
Wright, aRepublican from
Saltillo, owns and operates 25
small and large businesses in the
health care sector and also selVes
on the Mississippi Better Business
Bureau board as weTI on theas
American Health Care Association's
National Multi-Facility Committee.
He said he will focus on more
jobs and better education without
tax increases or educational bud­
get cuts.
Nunnelee will resign from the
seat soon to selVe in Congress.
Others expressing interest in the
special election are Tupelo City
Council members Jonny Davis and
Mike Bryan, radio host J.J. Jasper
and Mike Armour, director of the
Appalachian Regional Commission.
