Spending Target.1

• The CDC estimates that 51.6% of adult smokers in Wisconsin tried to quit smoking in
2008.2

• Wisconsin received $811 million in tobacco settlement payments and taxes in FY10.3

• Wisconsin has securitized all or part of its Master Settlement Agreement dollars.4

Excise Tax: As of September 1, 2009 there is a tax of $2.52 per pack on cigarettes.

Clean Indoor Air Ordinances


• Smoking is prohibited in all child care centers and schools.

• Smoking restrictions are required in all government buildings, health facilities,


restaurants and private workplaces.

Youth Access Laws


• The minimum age requirement for the purchase of tobacco products is 18, and penalties
exist for merchants who violate this law. The penalties for minors are unspecified.

• Establishments are required to post signs stating that sales to minors are prohibited.
