Bois de Bologne is one of the best examples of parks done right in Paris.

The current
version dates back to Napeloen and his chief engineer, Baron Haussmann, who made
the walkways, waterfalls, planted thousands of trees, and effectively turned the park into
a masterpiece. Home to the French Open and the world famous horse race, The Prix de
l'Arc de Triomphe, The park and it´s surronding attractions offer history blended with
contemorary elegance.

Père Lachaise is one of the suprisingly hip spots to visit as it is the resting place to Jim
Morrision, Fredrick Chopin, and Oscar Wilde, and Edith Piaf. The cemetary also is the
final stop for two relious era lovers, Abélard and Héloïse, a tutor and student who fell in
love, were secretly married, and had a son. When Heloise´s uncle found out, He had
Abélard castrated and sent Héloïse to a convent.

From May to early September, Bois de Bologne´s Jardin Shakespeare hosts outdoor
preformances of the Bards works. The Gardens that surrond the theater are named for
Shakespeares plays. Macbeth, Hamlet, The Tempest, As You Like It and A
Midsummer Night's Dream all wait on the crowds that come to hear their masters works
in French and English.

The park is located to the Porte Maillot metro station. Porte Maillot hotels close to Bois
de Bologne include Le Meridien Etoile and Hotel Concorde La Fayette.
