Foil Figures

People in Action
Learning objective:
• I can use what I have learnt about the
human body in motion, to make a sculpture
of “a person in action.”

This piece of work will take us two weeks.

Firstly, reflect on your work of the last few
weeks then spend a few minutes sketching
(in your sketch book) some ideas for your
sculpture.
You will definitely produce a better piece of
work if you spend time planning it.
So, how do we make them?
Foil Sculptures

Take a sheet of tin foil about

30cm long. Draw lines with felt
pen before you cut. (so you can
check the placement)

leg leg
Gently crumple foil together
holding it in the middle (like you
were holding the waist of the
person) Gently, if you squeeze too
hard the foil compresses and the
person gets really tiny!
Have small pieces of foil
available for strengthening arms
and legs or necks (some who
have been squeezed too tight
lose limbs!)
Finally, cover with tissue
and pva glue!
