1) A customer questions a barber who doesn't believe in God's existence due to the amount of suffering in the world.
2) The customer then sees an unkempt man outside and tells the barber that barbers don't exist by the same logic.
3) The barber explains that he does exist to serve customers, and God exists for those who seek Him, which can alleviate suffering. Only by recognizing our problems and applying solutions like turning to God can we cure what causes pain.

A man went to a barbershop to have his hair cut and his beard trimmed.
As the barber did his work, they began a conversation, as barbers often do, and also talked about God. Then the barber said, 'I don't believe that God exists.'
'Why do you say that?' asked
the customer.
'Well, you just have to go out in the street to realize that God doesn't exist.‘
‘You see, if God exists,
would there be so many sick people? Would there be abandoned children? Would there be so many calamities and wars?’ ‘If God existed, there would be neither suffering nor pain.
I can't imagine a loving God who would allow all of these things.'
The customer thought for a moment, but didn't respond because he didn't want to start an argument.
Then the barber finished his job and the customer left the shop. Just after he left the barbershop, he saw a man in the street with long, stringy, dirty hair and an untrimmed beard.
He looked dirty and unkempt.. The customer turned back and entered the barbershop again and he said to the barber, 'You know what? Barbers do not exist.'
'How can you say that?' asked the surprised barber. 'I am here, and I am a barber. And I just cut your hair!'
'Well,' the customer exclaimed, 'barbers can't exist because if they did, there would be no people with dirty long hair and untrimmed beards, like that man outside on the street.' The barber replied, 'Ah, but barbers DO exist! That only happens to people who do not come to me.'
'Exactly!' affirmed the
customer. 'That's the point! God, too, DOES exist!
People do not go to Him
and don't look to Him for guidance and help.
That is the reason why there is so much pain and suffering in the world. Only when we recognize the cause of our disease can we know and apply the cure.
The scriptures have been giving us knowledge of both the cause of our ills and the cure.
This is scientific knowledge. Do not discount the ultimate theory before making the experiment to prove it to yourself.
