For the first time, the Ministry of Defense of Georgia has called
up reserve doctors. The preparatory program for doctors differs
from the preparatory program for common reservists. A special
battalion has been formed with medical staff. Reservist Kakha
Nuralidze stressed the importance of forming this special medical
battalion. The Director General of the National Medical Center
of Western Georgia, Kakha Nuralidze, is 33 years old. He
completed obligatory military training courses at Mukhrovani
Base.
We had special training for the 410th Medical Battalion. The idea
behind creating a medical battalion was proper and reasonable.
The Georgian military forces require effective medical service.
kaxa nuraliZe Last year’s experience has shown that the problem will be not
solved with the existence of a military hospital only. In light of
Kakha Nuralidze
current circumstances, the Soviet model has become out dated
and a mobile, highly skilled, and complex military medical service
is necessary.

The National Defence Academy of the Ministry of Defence of Georgia continues the recruiting
process for the Junior Officers Training Courses. Development of the training courses began in
2006 under the initiative of the President of Georgia, Mikhail Saakashvili.
The prime objective of the training is to provide the Armed Forces of Georgia with intelligent
and qualified officers. Young militaries should then carefully manage and effectively uti-
lize the skills and experience of these soldiers.
Nearly 2000 applicants have declared their desire to participate in the training, but only 600
participants have received approval to participate. Among selected competitors, there are
also participants of the television reality show “Barracks” or “Kazarma”.
After end of the television project, Levan Gavashelishvili, Kakha Kavlashvili and Zoja
Kurtanidze were selected to continue training under the Junior Officers Training Courses in
The National Defence Academy. We have met students in Mukhrovani.
Each participant was interviewed by Lela Petriashvili at the Ministry of Defence. Lela is a corpo-
ral assigned to the Communications Battalion of the National Train ing Centre “Krtsanisi”.

enemy forces and the diversion group was destroyed.
After inspecting the dead soldiers we found out that all of them had
ID’s issued by the Abkhazian Ministry of Defense, which identi-
fied them as Russian army soldiers. Most of them were Russian
citizens, Cossack and North Caucasians. Evidently, the commander
of the diversion group was a career Russian officer, with a Russian
Officer’s ID issued by the Russian Ministry of Defense. I want to
remark that this operation ended without any losses for the Geor-
gian battalion.
