Discharge Plan

METHOD
M-
• cefazolin 500mg cap tid x 7 days to prevent infection
• Celecoxib 200mg tab bid to relieve pain

E-
• Range of motion exercises to prevent contractures
• Frequent exercise of the affected arm for circulation
• Deep breathing exercises
• May be ambulatory but avoid strenuous activities

T
• Inform the patient to take prescribed medications on time and with the right
dosage

H
• Encourage the patient to have adequate rest and sleep
• Don’t allow procedures such as taking blood pressure on the affected side
• Avoid strong sunlight on the affected arm
• Do not let the affected arm hand dependent
• Avoid wearing constricting clothing or jewelry on the affected side
• Stress out the importance of proper hygiene

O
• Follow-up check-up after one week at the OPD surgery

D
• Avoid fatty foods and increase intake of vegetables and fruits

• Increase oral fluid intake to facilitate proper circulation of blood and to provide
needed nutrients and electrolytes

• Increase intake of protein-rich foods for healing and strength.
