Developmental Elementary Guidance Seminar on Self Esteem

Goal: Students will learn the importance of having positive self esteem along with ways to boost their
own self esteem through interactive online activities.

Objectives:

 Help students understand what self esteem is and why it’s important.
 Develop ways for children to achieve a healthy level of self-esteem.
 Engage in activities that make children feel more positively about themselves.

Activity One:

For the first activity students will watch a short video that explains the importance of having positive self
esteem. The main character of the Lovable Me film struggles with his self esteem, and video
demonstrates how he learns to overcome this by making a list of everything that he is good at.

Activity Two:

Upon completing the video, students will then be asked to complete a list of their own positive qualities.
Prompts are provided to help students think of various positive qualities they posses. When completed
students will be able to look over their list and see the many beneficial qualities that they possess, thus
making them feel better about themselves and raising their self esteem.

Activity Three:

For the next activity students will go to the following website:

Students will follow websites directions and construct a collage that shows what is unique about them.
This activity allows for students to be fun and creative, while helping students realize that they have a
lot to feel good about.
