HOW DOES YOUR MEDIA

PRODUCT REPRESENT
PARTICULAR SOCIAL
GROUPS ?
How did you decided to represent men and women
 When creating our thriller storyline we decided to use younger
characters that our target audience, which were 15-20, so they
could relate to the characters when watching it.

 Also by using younger characters it gave the audience the feeling

of insecurity because they are young and it could be argued they
are easily targeted and vulnerable.

 For the actor who played Spencer we made sure we had someone
who just looked like an average person therefore again making it
easier to relate to by the audience
Does anybody die within the opening sequence
and what does this say about the character

 One of our characters (Spencer) dies within the opening and we

decided to do this to show weakness in men and that not all men
are strong and powerful and that they aren't completely
untouchable.

 We did this to basically go against the typical male persona

instead of having a female character which would have portrayed
being timid and susceptible to danger.
What does your text say about certain social
groups
 Because we had 2 male actors that are in the opening of our
thriller we tried to have two completely different male characters.
One being quite weak and defenceless compared to the killer who
was the direct opposite.

 Also we represented teenagers by having them involved in

something like a killing etc as the youth nowadays are slated on
the news to be getting worse and worse as each generation passes.

 Then we had the killer who was dressed as a standard teenager

but had all the characteristics of a much older man thus showing
the 2 different sides of teenagers therefore contradicting the
general stereotype of what the public think.
