BRIDGING THE GAP

Zaki : Good afternoon,Puan Nora.

Puan Nora : Hello, Zaki. How was school today?

Zaki : As usual,Puan Nora.I’m writing an article on the generatin gap.

Can I talk to you about it?

Puan Nora : Sure,Zaki.

Zaki : Is the generation gap something new?

Puan Nora : No,the generation gap has been around for a long time. For

years, teenagers have been saying,`My parents don’t understand me’.

Zaki : Why does it exist?

Puan Nora : Parents and teenagers look at things differently. They often don’t agree on the

same things.

Zaki : That’s right.Parents don’t give us enough freedom.We can’t go to many

places on our own.We have to be home by a certain time. They treat us like

children.

Puan Nora : You must understand that your parents are worried about your safety.Crime

rates are higher now.Teenagers should try to understand that.

Zaki : Yes, Iagree, but parents should also try to understand teenagers.

Puan Nora : That’s true.

Zaki : Can this gap be bridged?

Puan Nora : Yes.Parents and teenagers must talk thing over.Parents must trust their children.

Children must believe that their parents love them.Parents and children can be friends.

Zaki : Yes,I agree.Thanks for your time,Puan Nora.

Puan Nora : You’re welcome.
