• Students are to chose one product produced by two different companies (Ex: Soda – Pepsi vs. Coca Cola). • Students are to then research advertisement for the product, finding two for each. Example: one commercial and one magazine advertisement for Pepsi and one commercial and one magazine advertisement for Coca Cola. • After finding the advertisements students are to identify the product, specific audience and persuasive technique (basic and specific) for each advertisement. • Upon doing this they are to compare the persuasive techniques used by each company to try and convince the majority of the market to buy their product. • The findings should be compiled into a comparative paper: – Intro – contains an effective hook, thesis statement and three supporting reasons. – First body paragraph – the persuasive techniques used by the first company (Ex: Pepsi) – Second body paragraph – the persuasive techniques used by the second company (Ex: Coca Cola) – Third body paragraph – comparing the two persuasive techniques – Conclusion – summary of the findings; restatement of thesis.
**The advertisements used are to be documented on a bibliography.
