Provest issues carbon tax

challenge to poll rivals
“…the Gillard/Brown tax will add $300 to Tweed power bills…”

Tweed Nationals MP Geoff Provest is demanding the Tweed Labor and

Greens candidates state their position on the Gillard Government’s new
carbon tax.

“The new Labor/Greens carbon tax will add $300 or more to the average
annual Tweed household power bill and 6 cents for every litre of petrol,” Mr
Provest said.

“This will wipe out the $200 electricity rebate that NSW Coalition Leader Barry
O’Farrell has announced.

“The Labor and Greens candidates for Tweed are perfectly entitled to support
their parties with this new tax but they need to be upfront with the Tweed
pensioners who are going to be the ones hardest hit.”

“We don’t want a repeat of the situation where Ms Gillard said she was
against a carbon tax before the election, but once she was safely re-elected
she supported it.”

“Kristina Keneally supports the new tax, Barry O’Farrell is against it and I am
dead set against it – we just need to know where the other candidates stand
before the election,” Mr Provest concluded.
