Tweed Schools in trouble if

Greens share power
“…the threat is very real…”

The Tweed’s independent and Catholic schools could be forced to close their
doors if a Greens party policy to strip them of Government support were ever
implemented, Tweed Nationals MP Geoff Provest has warned.

“The Greens carbon tax policy hurts Tweed pensioners, the Greens policy to
slash road funding would mean more highway fatalities and now the Greens
education policy would lead to a Tweed schools crisis,” Mr Provest said.

In an open letter on 17 March NSW Catholic bishops said an analysis of the

Greens school policy shows schools fees would rise by up to $1550 per year.

“That,” Mr Provest says, “is unacceptable and irresponsible – Tweed parents

have a right to send their children to the school of their choice.”

The Nationals MP cautioned people against voting Greens on the assumption

the minor party would not significantly influence Government policy.

“The Greens are hot favourites to win a swathe of NSW seats including that
of Deputy Premier and Health Minister Carmel Tebbutt – the threat is very
real,” he concluded.
