Drawing Set Dates and Revision Dates: How and When

Submission Sets and Dates: When a set of drawings are delivered to

various agencies, committees, contractors etc. the set should be
labeled for the submission and have a consistent date through out.
This Submission date is located on each sheet of the set, and need
only be changed on the cover sheet and the xref’d title block that
appears in our sheet drawings. The images to the
right show the location of the submission set date
on the cover sheet and then the title block. Some
examples of submission sets include but are not
limited to…
• XX% Submission
• Permit Set
• Pricing set
• Construction Documents
Please note that Progress Sets are NOT submission sets. It is recommended that these
sets be labeled Progress Set and are dated using the plot stamp.

Revision Numbers and Dates: When the situation arises that

individual sheets in a submission set need to be revised and
resubmitted, we use revision numbers and dates. These dates
are added in the specific sheet drawing that is to be
resubmitted. The purpose of revision dates is to allow us too
keep track of changes in a submission set on a sheet by sheet
basis. If a sheet is revised, the revision(s) should be clouded
and annotated with the proper revision number. Each time
that a sheet is revised and resubmitted, a new revision number
and date is put in the revision date box (along with a short
description of the revision) directly under the previous
revision number and date. The images to the right show the
revision boxes for two separate sheet drawings. The top
image was at one time revised and resubmitted by itself.
Later; the same sheet was revised and resubmitted again
along with the sheet on the bottom. Notice that even though
the bottom sheet was revised last; the revision number is still
one (1). After all revisions are complete, the files are to be backed up in there
appropriate directory.

New (Consecutive) Submission Sets: All new submission sets shall be without
revisions. For example, the Permit Set is revised, resubmitted and approved. Before
issuing the set for pricing or construction documents, the set should be backed up in its
appropriate directory, the revision clouds, annotation and dates should be removed, and
the set re-titled and re-dated for the new submission.
