Aim
• List the diseases that affect the respiratory
system
Lung Emphysema
• emphysema the alveolar tissue is partially
destroyed and the remaining alveoli are
weakened and enlarge. The bronchioles
collapse on exhalation, trapping air in the alveoli.
Over time this process impairs the ability to
exchange oxygen and carbon dioxide with the
circulatory system, leading to breathing
difficulties. A noncontagious disease,
emphysema results from multiple factors,
including a genetic predisposition to the
condition, smog, cigarette smoke, and infection.
Bronchitis
• Bronchitis, acute or chronic
inflammation of any part of the bronchi
and bronchial tubes.
Lung Cancer
• Cancer cells are unusual cell growth in the
lung.
• Carcinogen, the chemical in the cigarette
is the cause of cancer
Asthma
• Breathing Problems, diseases or
conditions affecting respiration, usually
caused by cigarette smoke or other
pollutants, allergies, or an inherited trait.
