Smoking
Materials :
Thermometer, U-tube, cotton
wool, Conical flask, filter
pump, cigarette, litmus
solution, lighter and rubber
stopper.
Procedure : 1. Set up the apparatus
as show.
2. Record the following
before and after activity.
a) The colour and smell
of the cotton wool.
b) The colour of the
litmus solution.
c) The temperature of U-
tube.
Observation (3b22006)
• The temperature before experiment was
27°C
• The temperature after the experiment is
47°C
• The colour of cotton wool change from
white into brown
• The colour of universal solution change
from red into yellow

• The temperature is 27°C and increase
after that.
• The cotton wool changes colour from
white to yellow-wish brown.
• The universal solution changes colour
from red to dark red.

wool is white but after that it change into
