Bose, on duty
near the front
desk, was also
found sleeping!! INCIDENT
II
INCIDENT
III

Ghai who is working in the

accounts section is found
sleeping…
Form small groups and discuss

1. Whether the gravity of misconduct is same

in each of the three cases or different…

2. Should punishment be the same or different

in all three cases…

3. Discuss why
GRAVITY OF MISCONDUCT

DIFFERENT
INCIDENT I
 It is a greater misconduct for Rao to sleep in
front of the petrochemical complex as he
was endangering the life and safety of
several people…

 It could simply be a recipe for disaster!!

 His work could in no case afford him to sleep

as guarding a petrochemical complex is a
sensitive job!!
INCIDENT II
 Sleeping near the front desk is unacceptable
as it could leave a bad impression on the
clients coming.
 It is damaging for the reputation of the
company if not hazardous!!

 A lesser offence than the first case!!

INCIDENT III
 Person could still afford sleeping in the
accounts section as

 Henormally does not have contact with the

customers

 His
work includes working alone and does not
hamper the security nor ruins the company’s
reputation

 Least offence of the 3 cases

PUNISHMENT
See whether the employee does it on a
habitual basis violating the norms
Or

Has full intention of waking up but accidently

dozes off

………zzzzzzz
Rao should be dealt with sternly as a minor
lapse on his part could invite a catastrophe

He cannot afford to sleep at any cost.

He could be EXPELLED!!!
Could be given a warning.

He should be asked for an

explanation.

He may not be expelled but

punished in a lesser way if
situation demands
Discern his work and
work load

Can simply be left with

a warning
