on the characteristics given.

Lesson Objective:

or a base.

Materials List:

Guided Reading Worksheet
Homework – Venn diagram

Procedures:
• Pre-Reading: Students will preview headings in reading and make a what
question for each topic in a graphic organizer.
• During Reading: Students will go through reading in textbook using a
reading guide, or reading road map, and fill in notes about acids and bases.

Post-Reading:
• Formative Assessment: Students will be assessed informally as they
complete the reading road map and I walk around the room. When they have
finished that activity, we will as a class answer the “what” questions they
made before reading by raising their hand and discussing as a class what the
answer should be.
• Summative Assessment: The summative assessment is two-fold. First, I will
collect the analysis question that they will complete at the end of class after
we answered our questions from the beginning. Second, I will give the class
homework, a Venn diagram of acids and bases that they will complete and
hand in for a grade.

Summary: The closure to the lesson will be for the students to then use the knowledge
they have obtained in the lesson to answer the analysis question.
