 Most nouns simply add   -s   in the plural:

          a dog         
  two, three,      dogs

Nouns that end in  a

consonant  +   -y change to ies
in the plural

         baby

 But if the noun ends  in a
vowel  +  -y  the -y does not
change

Many nouns that end in -f,  in the

plural change the f to v  and then
add     es           

a wolf
