Scenario

You are a new student in Kolej Profesional MARA Beranang. You have been assigned
by the Director of Bahagian Pendidikan Tinggi (BPT) MARA as one of the members of
research committee to help BPT in investigating, specifying and analyzing the existing
computer system of KPM Beranang in order to come out with the new requirements to
improve its performance. The departments of KPM Beranang involved are:

a. Administration (including Director’s, Deputy Directors’ and Head of Departments’


rooms)
b. Computer labs
c. Lecturers’ rooms

KPM Beranang basically would like to fully utilize the computer system to implement the
new COMP TIA E-Learning Program via video conferencing and audio conferencing, as
well as to provide new certificate for the students. The management board of MARA has
agreed to provide the resources necessary to implement the new program a unlimited
computer system, connecting the in-campus and out-campus students with the online
services. The existing equipments include computers, servers, communication standard,
link out and network devices.

BRIEF:

To facilitate you in the investigation, analysis and specification of existing computer


system of those departments, you have to conduct a project meeting and divided all
students involved into 3 groups. In the project meeting, you have to give the students
guidance on how to conduct a research to address the issues involved with computer
system performance to ensure that they could work effectively within the team.

As a project manager you have to make sure your team will fulfill all the activities given
in Appendix 1 including the requirement discovery process, functional requirements and
new specification of suggested computer system.

Finally, as a project manager, you have to prepare a complete report on the findings and
include your suggestions in improving the computer system performance of KPM
Beranang. The report should be presented to the Director of BPT MARA.

TASKS:

P2.1: Classify the categories of computer.

7. Based on the providing system requirements above, examine the compatibility
between hardware components being listed in the system requirement with the
hardware components being used in the department.
