God knows your needs. The Lord is our Provider. Let’s trust Him together to move hearts and direct His people
to respond. He can provide “above and beyond all you can ask or imagine.” Decide beforehand, with the pastor,
which approach to taking an offering is most appropriate:
1. The Pastor Talks About the Money. Let the pastor make the plea for generous giving and take the of-
fering. Let the missionary present the work, the need, and the passion for getting it done. A local pastor should
be empowered to instruct and encourage his congregation to give generously to the work of the missionary. In so
doing, it relieves the missionary from the awkwardness of what may be perceived as a self-serving plea for funds,
including personal income.
