Nalinee’s Exhibition Reflections

March 8th 2011

Since we started the exhibition my group has been working on finding

information about orphans and finding orphanages or people we can interview.  I have
learned that orphans need people’s help; more people should be aware of what’s
happening and try to help by donating to the orphanage or adopting a child. Before I
was not aware of what was going on but since I started researching I started to be
aware and started to change my perspective about orphans, and that I should help by
donating to an orphanage which I have done recently but, I wasn’t really aware of why I
was donating. Before I thought differently and now I shifted a thinking in myself. We
have accomplished writing down our questions that we are going to ask in our
interview. Also we learnt a little about our topic so we would know what the people we
interview are talking about. We still need to get more people we can interview because
right now we have only one person we can interview from UNICEF. I think the Learner
Profile that I have used mostly is being Open- minded because I listened to everyone’s
ideas and the Attitude I used mostly is cooperation because I think that I cooperated
well in the group so we get good ideas and we get lots of information. I think our group
is working well together and we will keep it up.

Sounds like an excellent start! Keep up the good work!!

This week my group has been working on finding people we can interview and good questions
we can ask. I think we have accomplished finding people to interview like we will be going on a
interview on Wednesday 16th of March and also on Thursday 17th. We also have got our
questions ready for the interviews. I think I have been a communicator because I asked many
people if they know anyone I can interview. Our group wasn’t working well together because
Lily thought we were leaving her out and we were actually not but I think we will get better.

Who are you interviewing? Are these the ones at the orphanages?

Thank you for your patience and efforts to work well in your group. I know it’s not easy.

This week in the Exhibtion my group has been doing…

My group and I have been planning to make a big flower with our four main questions, a video
and also we are going to sell bags etc and also we are making a sculpture of an orphan in a bin. I
think my contribution to the group has been good because I worked really hard on the video
and making the big flower . As to Lily and Vanessa‘s contribution was a lot also because they
worked hard on the sculpture we are making and they helped with finding good photos. I think
what we need to do now to make a good presentation is to be prepared of what we are going
to say and who is going to say what. But I think mostly we need to make our presentation
INTERESTING.

Exactly! It will be important that you can entice the visitors to come a little closer so you guys
can share all the things you learned about orphans.
Congratulations for being so organised and focused throughout the Exhibition process. Way to
go, Nalinee!

1st April 2011

The last two days of presenting our knowledge was good and at first I thought it was scary and I
was really nervous but when I actually did it, it wasn’t that scary and I started to get used to it.
Great!! Did you enjoy it? On the second day when the children from the NIST community came
in it was kind of boring because they didn’t really understand what we were saying even though
we told them in their level of language. But on the other hand it was good because many
people bought our bags etc. so we got lots of money. We were really happy about that because
we can give it to the orphanage and it will help because the money is for paying for the orphans
to meet all their needs so they can have a good life like we do. I’m glad you could help.

The Exhibition was a good experience because I learnt how people feel when we go to their
presentations etc. and that we should listen and not make it like it’s boring because the
presenter then feels like you don’t want to listen to them and that’s kind of what happened to
us sometimes. I think this was a really good thing that I will grow from because now I don’t
assume things. I actually want to go ask the people and find out the correct answers (fantastic!)
and also I learnt how to make a very clear, simple and to the point presentation or display. I
think that this was a very good way of me to learn how I can make a good presentation and
make people actually want to listen because now that I got the experience I can work better
towards it. It was a very worthwhile project for me and I wish I can do it again so I can learn
even more. I’m glad you feel that way, Nalinee. You worked hard and you got a lot out of it.
Excellent work.

This project was very fun for me and I liked it a lot I wish I can do it again. You will one day. 
