Organization (WIPO) is one of the 16 specialized
agencies of the United Nations

2. Was created in 1967. It came into force on april


26th 1970.

3. WIPO currently has 184 member states.

4. Headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland.
OBJECTIVES
• "to encourage creative activity, to promote
the protection of intellectual property
throughout the world.“
• Promoting technology transfer and economic
development.
EFFECT
• Many low income economies claim that
patent protection for pharmaceuticals will
result in higher prices for medicines.
• On other side research based global
pharmaceutical companies , argued that
prices will not raise because of therapeutic
substitutions for patented products
