Hey there folks.

TeachMeet Beyond is almost upon us, so just a quick note with some information for participants.

We have arranged with The Craigs that arrivals will be from 6pm. The Campfire isn’t starting until 8pm, so
there’s time to get set up and settled in before things kick off. If you come to the Joe Hall Chalet (the smaller of
the two accommodations – I will get it logo-ed up when I get there) on arrival, someone will be able to point
you towards one of our allocated campsites.

Hopefully the weather will be kind to us, but this is predominantly an outdoor event, and we do live in
Scotland, so make sure you are waterproofed up – jacket, trousers (if desired) and boots will all be essential.
Warm clothes – layers are best – and some spares to change into if you get wet are also a good idea. Jeans are
not a good idea for outdoors in the rain. A pair of ‘indoor’ shoes (gym shoes anyone?) are also necessary.

For those of you staying indoors, there are beds and mattresses, but a sleeping bag will be needed to keep you
warm! You will need a hand and a bath towel, and a dish towel too! There is a toilet in the chalet (always a
good idea to bring a toilet roll to camp...), but showers are underneath the other building - Cadell House –
which is a short walk away.

For those of you who will be camping, you will probably know what you are bringing along the lines of
groundmats, sleeping bags, cooking sets, etc. Each campsite has its own water tap, wooden dining shelter and
an altar or drum fire with a supply of wood. The showers and toilets underneath Cadell House are available for
your use.

Whilst there are some plates, etc available in the chalet, bringing your own camp plate, mug and cutlery is
advisable, and participants are welcome to bring their own food should they desire to. Catering wise, there is a
kitchen area in the chalet, and campsites have their own fire areas and dining shelters (campers will be
welcome in the chalet of course!). There will be tea, coffee and biscuits available for anyone to make in the
chalet, and on Friday night after the campfire there will be stovies and cup-a-soups should anyone wish. For
Saturday breakfast we will provide cereal and bread for toast; at lunchtime there will be cup-a-soups and rolls
with an assortment of fillings available for people to make up for themselves. There will be fruit available too.
We have our generous sponsors (see above) to thank for both the accommodation and the food.

Regarding refreshments (including alcohol), these will not be provided, although you are welcome to bring
your own. I have asked the staff at The Craigs what the policy is on alcohol, and they have told me that it is
okay to bring it and to consume it on site, but have asked me to stress that it is a youth organisation campsite
and that there will be members of the organisation on site over the weekend. They have asked that no alcohol
be consumed in front of the young people, and that we all remember that there are youngsters on-site and
that we have a responsibility to set a good example for them. The Torphichen Inn is only a 10 minute walk
away for the seriously drouthy.

There will be 3 workshops on Saturday morning and 2 on Saturday afternoon. All the workshops will run twice
back-to-back, giving participants a chance to attend 2 of the morning workshops and both of the afternoon
workshops. Numbers for workshops will be divided equally as far as is possible. We will be capturing
photographs, audio and video over the course of the event, and be looking to share it for CPD purposes with
other educators including on the internet – please contact me if you wish to discuss this further.

Think that’s about it for just now; get in touch if you have any questions, and we look forward to seeing you all
there!

Regards

Iain Hallahan
