Object:

To knowing the resistance of the cement to bending and flexural.

Apparatus:
 weighing device.
 Glass Graduate.
 Specimens molds three cubes (5.08cm).
 Mixer.
 Tamper .
 Material
cement sand water

1 2.75 .485

Procedures:
 Weigh (500)gm of cement and Prepare the corresponding
weights of standard sand and water.
 Place all the mixing water in the bowl.
 Add the cement to the water, then start the mixer and mix at the
low speed for 30 sec.
 Add of sand slowly over a (30 s) period , while mixing at slow
speed.
 Stop the mixer, change to medium speed and mix for 30s.
 Stop the mixer and let the mortar stand for 90 sec during the
first (15s)of this interval mix the sample (hand mixing)
 Finish by mixing at medium speed.

 Shoud be cover the interior faces of the sample molds with oil.
 Tamp the mortar in each cube 32 times, about 4 rounds
 Keep the molds in a moist room for 24 h then open them and
keep the sample in a water .

Flexural Strength and Compressive Strength of Cement Mortars

Object:

Use the mold take the form regtangler for knowing tha the strength.

Apparatus:

 Molds (16,4,4)cm
 Mechanical mixer.
 Wood Tamper
 Flaw table.
 Trowel.
 Moist Cabinet.

Procedure:

The same method of mixing the cube.

Layers:

Layer 1: 12 tamping for 3 rounds.

Layer 2: 12 tamping for 3 rounds.

 Remove the specimens from the tank at the required age of testing (1, 3,
7 or 28 days) and dry the surface.
 Place the specimen centered on the machine’s .
 Apply the load on the true plane surfaces of the specimen .
 Record the maximum load {p flex}

 Place the specimen centered on the machine’s bearing plate.

 The specimen should be turned on its side with respect to its position as
molded.
 Apply the load on the true plane surfaces of the specimen that the
failure.
 Record the maximum load {p com}
Calculations:
Pcomp. = 39.23kN.
Pflexure =2.015k N.
L = 10 cm , b = d =4 cm, A =16 cm^2
σ comp = P comp / A
= 24.5MPA
σ flex = 1.5(P flex) L / ( b * d^2)
= 118.06MPA
