The floods began in late July
after heavy monsoon rain
fell over the Indus River basin.
The floods have caused massive
destruction from the north to
the south of Pakistan

More than 1,600
people have died.

20 million people are affected.

Homes, bridges, schools, water
systems and medical facilities have
been destroyed.

Evacuation camps have been set up in
schools and other government
buildings.

Responding in three of the four worst
affected areas in the North: Shangla,
Kohistan, and Swat Districts.

Caritas is working to provide
assistance to 60,000 people with:

Water & Sanitation


Food
Shelter
Medical supplies
Cooking equipment
Mosquito nets
Pakistan has the highest number of
refugees in the world (1.7 million).
At least 2 refugee camps
housing thousands of families,
have been washed away.
