POLICE CUTS: THE TRUTH

People in Coleshill & Water Orton are concerned that crime i s up, resources are down and Warwickshire Police is struggling to cope. The Tories tell us Police cuts don t cause increased crime. It s untrue! y y y y May 2010-May 2011 in Warwickshire saw burglaries rise by 44%. Serious violent crime is up by a fifth. On one Monday last month there were 25 officers on duty for the whole of the county, including the motorways. A local Police officer in Coleshill recently attended an incident and n support was available from Warwickshire Police so help had to be sought by West Midlands Police. The Government are cutting the Warwickshire Police budget by 23% Coleshill Police Station has closed Warwickshire Police expect 240 jobs cuts over 2 years. The Constabulary have made essential support staff redundant. So 60 fully fit police officers have recently had to be transferred from the beat to desk bound suppo rt work.

This is the first time since 1997 that crime has risen. Between 1997-2010 Warwickshire Police numbers increased and crime fell by 50%.
