Undergraduate Scholarship Program 2011

Since 1984, The Armenian Network of America, Inc. has been a professionally-based community
organization that has provided Armenian American professionals the opportunity to interact. With
chapters operating in three major cities with significant Armenian communities: New York,
Washington DC, and Los Angeles, the chapters operate independently and cater to the dynamics of
each designated geographic area.
The Armenian Network incorporates Regional Executive Committees, responsible for the management
of Network activities/functions for a designated geographic area and a National Board of Directors,
which oversees the management of the corporation. The Regions are able to network through the
common databases, via telephone, email, and services hosted on this website, as well as through
educational and social events. It is our aim to provide a basis for like-minded Armenians professionals
in each local area to meet and to help advance one anothers professional and career goals. Through a
series of social and cultural events, the Network brings Armenians together to network and develop
contacts as they develop their careers at all stages.
With great pride, we are now offering the first annual Armenian Network Scholarship which will be
awarded to two very worthy young professionals of Armenian descent who demonstrate academic
achievement and a commitment to the Armenian community. Each award will be in the amount of
$500 and is intended to provide assistance with tuition, room and board, textbooks, and other
educational expenses associated with college enrollment.
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY BEFORE FILLING OUT THE APPLICATION
REQUIREMENTS:
1. Applicant must be of Armenian descent.
2. Applicant must be a member of the Armenian Network of America Washington Region.

Student members may sign up online at www.armnet.org at the newly established discounted
rate of $15.
3. Applicant must be an undergraduate student who has completed at least one college semester

at an accredited four-year college or university OR must be enrolled in a two year college and
are transferring to a four year college or university as a full time student.
4. A strong preference will be given to students enrolled in the Greater Washington DC area.

5. The following information must be sent with the completed application:

a. College transcript. Please submit an electronic copy of an official transcript and note

that the Scholarship Committee may require a hard copy of an official transcript, with a
seal, at a later date. Please have an official college transcript (with a raised seal)
available upon request from the Scholarship Committee.
b. One (1) letter of recommendation: this may be an academic or professional letter of

reference (from a professor or employer) or a personal reference attesting to your

involvement in the community.
c. A personal statement, one to two pages in length, discussing what your academic and

career goals are and how this scholarship would assist in your efforts.
d. An essay, no longer than one page in length, addressing your involvement in the

Armenian community, your dedication to your heritage and how that has played a role
in your personal development.
6. Completed application and all required documents must be received by October 15, 2011.

Scholarship grants are awarded on the basis of financial need, academic merit as well as the strength of
the personal statement and essay.

scholarship should the Armenian Network of America Washington Region offer it. There is no
