children)-Poem, 1869, Calamba Laguna MI PRIMERA INSPIRACION (My first Inspiration) Poem 1874, Ateneo de Manila

Historical Background . Rizal had found memories of his childhood, his happy days in the family garden, the daily angelus prayer, the moonlight night at the azotea with the aya relating stories, and the nocturnal walk in town. Rizal wrote the poem at the age of eight(8) for an appeal to our people to love our national language. Rizal wrote the poem for his beloved mother, he felicitated his mother on her birthday, expressing filial affection in sonorous verses Rizal was fourteen years old when he wrote this poem. In this poem, Jose Rizal offers his congratulations to Antonio Lopez, his brother-in-law, on his saint's day in 1875

Message or Principle A tender poem written by Rizal at the age of 15 that vividly describes Rizals beloved town Calamba

Rizal proudly and pompously asserted that a people who truly love their native language will definitely strive for liberty like the bird which soars to freer space above. The Poem talks about Rizals love to his mother and his mothers love to him.

FELICITACION/FELICITATION -poem wriiten in 1875 during his academic stay in Ateneo

Jos Rizal wrote a dedication called Felicitation, which names Philomela in a metaphor to his commitment to send salutations to his brother-in-law Antonino Lopez. In his award winning poem "A La Juventud Filipina", (To The Filipino Youth) Rizal uses Philomel as inspiration for young Filipinos to use their voices to speak of Spanish injustice. It is described in the poem how people greeted Magellans fleet with the highest spirits and festivities. Finally, the people of the East bid farewell to the Spanish fleet with felicitation, gratitude for their causes, and inspiration as they embark on another adventure in the seas.

EL EMBARQUE: HIMNO A LA FLOTA DE MAGELLANES /THE DEPARTURE: HYMN TO MAGELLANS FLEET - It was written on 5 December 1875 in Ateneo , though there were claims from Rizals former classmate in Ateneo, Vicente Elio and Rizals friend, Mariano Ponce that this poem was written in 1874. El Embarque was first printed in La Patria on 30 December 1899.

The poem is a hymn inspired by the historical voyages of the Portuguese maritime explorer Ferdinand Magellan as well as to pay tribute to Spain for discovering and conquering countries all over the world.

Y ES ESPANOL: ELCANO EL PRIMERO EN DAR VUELTA AL MUNDO/ ELCANO WAS A SPANIARD, THE FIRST TO CIRCUMNAVIGATE THE EARTH - poem written in 1875 during his academic stay in Ateneo

Jose Rizal, having taken an interest in history when he was a student at the Ateneo, describes in this poem Juan Sebastian Elcano, the first man to have circumnavigated the world.

To the child Jesus ,1875 y This poem was written in 1875 when he was 14 years old; it was a brief ode y The poet is pondering about Jesus' birth. Why has a god as such been born in poverty and he sees that circumstances on earth for the people who are expecting a great military type messiah like another King David are going to find him not what they expected at all and beyond their comprehension. In the second stanza he questions if Jesus, now as man will be content to be the keeper of his sheep so to speak or will he be tempted or coaxed into being a prestigious leader like a president or King. Written by Rizal so that Virgin Mary will guide him throughout his way. This is a personification of Love and how It keeps us out of the angry seas and the fears of death. Sometimes the things that bother us most are the path to our liberation and awakening. Gratitude for whatever we have is a powerful prayer or calling.

To the virgin Mary, (Unknown)

Another religious poet which Rizal wrote. Its time and year of published is unknown. But probably, this was written after the ode to the child Jesus
