APPLICATIONS TO SIT FOR THE APTITUDE TEST TO FOLLOW THE DEGREE COURSES OF STUDY IN ARCHITECTURE DEGREE (B.ARCH), DESIGN DEGREE (B.DES) (FACULTY OF ARCHITECTURE), FASHION DESIGN & PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT DEGREE (FACULTY OF ENGINEERING), INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY DEGREE AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY & MANAGEMENT DEGREE (FACULTY OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY)

Applications are hereby invited for the above aptitude tests from candidates who possess the minimum University Admission requirements as specified under section 3.2 of the Hand Book on Admission to Undergraduate Courses of the Universities in Sri Lanka Academic Year 2010/2011, issued by the University Grants Commission. Applicants who submit applications to the University Grants Commission to be considered for admission to Universities are required, in addition, to apply to sit and pass the aptitude tests mentioned herein, if they wish to be considered for admission to the respective courses. To be eligible to sit the Aptitude Tests for the 05 Degree Courses mentioned above, candidates are required to possess the qualifications listed below under the respective courses.

Architecture Degree (B. Arch) (Faculty of Architecture) Design Degree (B. Des) (Faculty of Architecture)

A candidate who sat for the G.C.E (A/L) 2010 Examination, should have obtained a pass in; (see Sections 3.2 and 8.7.1 of UGC Hand Book 2010/2011) (i) at least one of the following subjects: Art Biology Chemistry Combined Mathematics Geography Higher Mathematics Physics

and (ii) the other subject/subjects from the following list:


Accounting Arabic Buddhist Civilization Business Statistics Business Studies Chinese Greek & Roman Civilization Economics Elements of Political Science English French German Communication & Media Studies Hindi Hindu Civilization History Home Economics Islamic Civilization Japanese Logic & Scientific Method Mathematics Pali Sanskrit Sinhala Tamil

The Candidates possessing passes in any three subjects listed under 2. (i) above, are also eligible to apply for the two aptitude tests mentioned above. In addition, candidates must fulfill the following requirements; (a) (b) a Pass in English at the G.C.E (Ordinary Level) Examination, a Credit pass (C) in Mathematics I or II at the G.C.E (Ordinary Level) Examination or a Pass in Mathematics at the G.C.E (Advanced Level) Examination.

A Candidate who sat for the G.C.E (A/L) 2010 Examination should have obtained at least S grades in any three subjects at G.C.E (Advanced Level) Examination. (see sections 3.2 and 8.7.2 of UGC Hand Book 2010/2011) In addition, candidates must fulfill the following requirements; Credit (C) Pass in English, Mathematics 1 or 11 and Science at the G.C.E (Ordinary Level) Examination,

A candidate who sat the G.C.E (A/L) examination 2010 should have (see Section 8.5 of UGC Admission Hand Book 2010/2011) qualified for University admission as stipulated in section 3.2 of the UGC Admission Hand Book 2010/2011 with at least a credit (C) pass in one of the following subjects to be eligible to sit the aptitude test. Higher Mathematics Mathematics Combined Mathematics Physics

The candidates who have sat for the G.C.E. (Advanced Level) Examination 2010 in the Bio Science Stream are also eligible to apply for this aptitude test if they possess the admission requirements with the C pass for Physics.

A candidate who sat the G.C.E (A/L) examination 2010 should have (see Section 8.12 of UGC Admission Hand Book 2010/2011) qualified for University admission as stipulated in section 3.2 of the UGC Admission Hand Book 2010/2011 with at least a credit (C) pass in one of the following subjects to be eligible to sit the aptitude test. Higher Mathematics Mathematics Combined Mathematics Physics Accounting Economics Geography Logic and Scientific Method Business Statistics

In addition, candidates must fulfill the following requirements: (i) a Credit Pass ( C ) in English at the G.C.E (Ordinary Level) Examination, (ii) a Credit Pass ( C ) in Mathematics at the G.C.E (Ordinary Level) Examination,

DATES OF THE EXAMINATIONS The aptitude test for the course of Architecture (B. Arch) and Design (B. Des) (Architecture) will be held on 05.03.2011, Fashion Design & Product Development, Information Technology and Information Technology & Management will be held on 06.03.2011.

SUBMISSION OF APPLICATIONS Applicants are required to prepare their own application forms in accordance with the format given below on A - 4 size paper. Separate applications should be submitted in respect of each Aptitude Test. Each application should accompany a paying in voucher obtained from any Branch of the Bank of Ceylon for Rs. 300/= drawn in favor of the Vice Chancellor, University of Moratuwa, Account No. 306836 (Katubedda Branch) being the fee for the particular Test (Cheques & Postal/Money Orders will not be accepted) along with copies of G.C.E (O/L) and (A/L) certificates as applicable and a certificate indicating the result of the common general paper, all certified by the Head of a School or a Justice of Peace. The official stamp of the certifying officer should be placed on each certified copy. If a candidate submit a certificate of G.C.E (A/L) which obtained from the Web Site, the name of the applicant should be mentioned and certified by the Head of School. Original Certificates should not be sent. Candidates are required to send a self addressed stamped envelope (Rs. 40/= worth) 10 x 22 c.m. in size (9x4 inch) along with the application form. The correct postal address should be written as this envelope will be used to post the admission card for the Aptitude Test, to the applicant. If any difference exists in the name indicated in the application and that in the certificates, candidates should submit an affidavit to confirm that they relate to one and the same person. The admission letters will be sent to individual applicants who have satisfied the admission requirement for the aptitude test. The applications of those who do not possess the minimum admission requirements, other requirements to become eligible to sit for the Aptitude Test as per above, those which do not accompany the paying - in voucher and late applications will be rejected. Applications should be sent under registered cover to reach the Senior Assistant Registrar / Examinations, University of Moratuwa, Moratuwa, on or before 21.01.2011 with the name of the Aptitude Test applied for written on the top left hand corner of the envelope.
