WebSphere Application Server version 6.0.1 Network Deployment A Proof of Technology

This PoT is an update of the earlier WebSphere Application Server v6 PoT. The following changes have been made to the PoT. The reasons for the changes to the earlier PoT are to concentrate more on the value the product delivers and de-emphasize the deep technical discussions that belong in a training class. Instructors of the PoT should note that the content is generic to account for the spectrum of audiences from no WebSphere skill to WebSphere experts. You are free to customize the PoT to suit the particular audience it is targeted at.

Changes
Labs: 1. Virtual disk size increased to 8GB 2. VMWare image updated with fixpack 6.0.1 3. 2 VMWare snapshots created a. Snapshot 1 is a basic image with no WebSphere installed b. Snapshot 2 is an image with WebSphere binaries installed and fixpack 6.0.1 applied 4. Part 1. of the install Lab has been made optional and instructions included for switching between snapshots for the different parts 5. The Service Integration Lab has been made optional 6. The Web Services Lab has been removed 7. The WLM/HA Lab has been updated to show HA in action Presentations: 1. The intro presentation has been shortened and the WBI reference architecture replaced with the SOA reference architecture 2. The technical overview has been made more concise 3. The title of the topology review has been changed to emphasize that it is a recap of the install lab 4. The System management presentation has been completely revamped 5. All the other presentations have been shortened to by removing architectural discussions and concentrate on the value the product delivers.
