We continue to move resources into the heavily damaged eastern, shoreline and southwestern
(Ridgefield/Redding/Weston/Wilton/New Canaan) areas of the state. 1,555 crews are at work today.
Restoration projections for all of the towns we serve are on the website (www.cl-p.com) and are
updated twice daily (9 a.m. and 9 p.m.)
The storm damage assessment so far includes 943 broken poles, 3,433 sections of downed wire, 508
broken transformers and 2,119 closed roads across our service territory.
Three satellite locations are up and running to support our restoration efforts in eastern Connecticut and
along the shoreline - at the Waterford Speed Bowl, Brooklyn Fairgrounds and Tanger Outlets in Westbrook.
Some customers are complaining that they “aren’t seeing any CL&P trucks.” There are over 700 utility
trucks from CL&P and the many different utility companies that are working to restore power.
Many customers are using generators for the first time following the storm and should be aware that any
generator should be installed by a licensed electrician. If not installed properly generators could backfeed
into our system and cause injury to our crews and/or customers
Downed wires should always be considered live. As we are reenergizing lines, there is the possibility that
downed lines that were previously made safe could become live again.
We will continually provide updates (9 a.m. and 9 p.m. daily) on all town restoration projections
posted on our website and in the IVR system. 40 towns are already at 99 percent restoration.
We continue to clear roads across the state. We have helped to clear 1,480 roads so far and
another 639 still remain blocked.
Meeting outage goals of less than 100,000 outages by Saturday at midnight, 99 percent
restoration by midnight Monday; and all customers restored by Wednesday.
Recent news reports regarding the cost of our storm restoration efforts and who will pay for them
are wrong. We will worry about the expense of the storm in the future. Any proposal we might
make would have to be approved by the Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA ).
