LYCEUM OF THE PHILIPPINES UNIVERSITY Capitol Site, Batangas City College of International Travel and Hospitality Management

Conservation of Environment through Volunteerism

Volunteers are not paid -- not because they are worthless, but because they are priceless.

Different organizations of College of International Travel and Hospitality Management along with the first year and second year students of Bachelor of Science in International Travel and Tourism Management as well as class officers occupied the LPU Freedom Hall last August 19, 2011. This is because they were subjected into an ecological awareness seminar with a theme of Conservation of Environment through Volunteerism. The colloquium was put in order by COMEX and the event turned out well. Lyceum Tourism Society had their active part as they administered the Registration area. With Miss Michelle Baruc as the organizations head, the registration run smoothly and it obviously went in a right flow. A group of volunteers served as the guest speakers and they shared their experiences as they partake to their diverse volunteerism services. They have discussed some instances were in they encountered unforgettable involvement to several underwater activities. They have shown some videos with regards to their diving practices. Lots of cartridges were also bestowed in relation to their snorkeling bustles. Another part of their talk was about giving knowledge concerning our ocean. They pointed out that healthy fishing should be applied and dynamite and cyanide fishing should be strictly avoided to protect the sea creatures such as fishes and corals. In fact, they have performed planting artificial coral reefs to prevent the total destruction of underwater habitats. At the end, its not just volunteerism that is being tackled but also being aware on what is happening to our environment. And each and every one of us can participate in conserving it through our own significant ways.
