Personality Profile of Grade IV Pupils and 2nd Year Students, SY 2006-2007

Guidance and Counseling Center, BED

Rationale

Students learn and interact differently. This is due to the fact that they differ from one another. Their individual differences stem from their uniqueness from one another. Their individual differences stem from their uniqueness of personality. Each individual is in itself a universe, with its own systems and flows, dominated by innate abilities as well as learned capability. All these make the student who he/she is. As such, we attached importance to their individuality, as well as their uniqueness as a group. As they grow older, they need to meet their needs based on their environment, internally and externally. Peer pressure, hormonal fluctuations, family and society demands these shape the individual into becoming who and what they he or she is. Also, since students stay in the school most of the time, their constant exposure to their peer groups as well as the demands of school work, and their relationship with their teachers all effect some changes in the students personality. Teachers and administrators are dedicated to make sure that the school is a place of learning, not only in terms of academics, but also in terms of lifes realities. Hence, it is crucial for teachers, counselors and administrators to know the personality types of their students so as to deal properly with their natural strengths and weaknesses.

Just like in other schools, the LCCM Basic Education Department is confronted with issues pertaining to the character and behavior of students. There are those who seem to lack focus in their studies, which results to poor academic performance. Some are unable to meet requirements on time, while others appear to be inattentive during lecture/discussions. A number of students are noted for being habitual latecomers, bullies, noisemakers and the like.
