Kasabian

Velociraptor

Album Art
Kasabians album art uses 3 recognisable colours (red, black and white) and is very simple and because of this simplicity the cover is very bold and clear in which artist it belongs to. Arrangement wise, the art appears very disorientating with the flipped text and artists face and it is implied through this that the contained music is chaotic and eccentric. Furthermore, the sans-serif font is easy to read and straight to the point very much like the 3-tone colour palette is. Featuring red in the text for velociraptor indicates an angry, sharp and dinosaur approach to music. Velociraptors are portrayed (mostly by hollywood) as dangerous predators and this image is echoed by this album cover through its colour and the angry, emotional display that you can observe from the artists face on the piece.

Similar Album Art

This album art from one Kasabians other albums is very similar and identical type is used in both of the album covers. The artist is consitent in their brand image and the dark, overwhelmingly black colour scheme indicates that dangerous and frightening music is to be expected in the album.

Music Video
Black and white is dominant in the music video for this artist. Both the album art and the video are very similar in their art style which is straightforward. This causes the viewer to focus on the band. In addition, the uncomplicated colour palette in the video offers room for disorientating imagery which is what you see here with the upside down scene much like the album art previously seen.

Music Video
Much like the velociraptor album art, the video includes the use of red occasionally using large red lettering. Flashing on the screen only briefly, the large type is violent, shocking and is used to add an extra frenzied flavour to the video.

Red is representative of anger, audacious and brash
