Book Review: Cry Wolf (written by Wilbur Smith)

Written by one of the most popular novelists of epic adventure, Cry Wolf has everything a book must have to stand out in this field. Surely, if one adjective had to be attributed to it, this would be entertaining. The book is characterized by the ease with which it is read. The story develops in 1935, when the League of Nations has banned Ethiopia and Italy to arm to prevent Mussolini taking over the African country. However, the ban only affects Ethiopia, since the European power is well armed and the Ethiopians have a few old rifles to defend their land. Due to this situation, five armed cars are very appealing to an Ethiopian prince with which Jake Barton and Gareth Swales close a deal. The author carves wonderful scenes set in the African continent and guide the reader through them rapidly, this way avoiding boredom and immersing him/her in a fluent reading. He achieves to put us into the feet of the characters, sharing their restlessness by manifesting their doubts constantly.
