Menlo Flexible Approach to Workplace

There were no cubicles, walls, or doors in the office. It was an open style brick and beam office which resembled a workshop rather than a corporate office. They worked in pairs for a particular project and were then reorganized into different teams the next week. Employees had the flexibility to come and go out of office according to their needs after coordinating with their weekly partners. Flexibility to take days off to go on a vacation. Employees are allowed to bring their families to workplace.

Working mothers can bring their babies to workplace. Their was no doing overtimes and working on weekends at Menlo. Lax dress code. Employees were allowed to communicate loudly and take suggestions from team members. Menlo conducted stand up meetings every weekdays after employees call out.

Results
As of 2007, Menlo had achieved revenues of US $ 2.7 million. In 2008, it made it to the Inc 5000 list and was a finalist in the Top Small Workplaces. Menlo excelled in putting together a vibrant and cohesive organizational culture and engaging employees through effective team building initiatives. High employee retention. Able to create job opportunities for people in US. Able to implement the software of companies which failed to implement it through off shoring.

Results

Menlo received several awards of its innovative work practices and creativity at workplace. In March 2007 Menlo won IAESTE United states employer of the year award. In August 2007 Menlo received the WORK/SPACES award for creativity given by Ann Arbor Business Review. In August 2007 Menlo won Incs 500 Fastest Growing Private Companies in America award sponsored by Inc. Magazine. In August 2008 Menlo won the Alfred P. Sloan Award for Business Excellence in Workplace Flexibility.
