ME218a Homework #2

All problems assume the existence of +5V & +3.3V supplies.

Out: Lecture 3 Due in class Lecture 4

Problem #1
Given and input signal that swings between 0V and 5V and is capable of sourcing or sinking 500 A, design a circuit that will produce an output that nominally swings between 0V and 3.3V (corresponding to 0V & 5V on the input) and is capable of sinking 1mA from an external device while maintaining an output voltage of no more than 0.1V.

Problem #2
Given and input signal that swings between 0V and 3.3V and is capable of sourcing or sinking 500 A, design a circuit that will produce an output that nominally swings between 0V and 5V (corresponding to 0V & 3.3V on the input) and is capable of sinking 1mA from an external device while maintaining an output voltage of no more than 0.1V.

Problem #3
Given and input signal that swings between -5V and +5V and is capable of sourcing or sinking 500 A, design a circuit that will produce an output that nominally swings between 0V and 5V (corresponding to +5V & -5V on the input) and is capable of sinking 1mA from an external device while maintaining an output voltage of no more than 0.1V.

Problem #4
Given and input signal that swings between 0V and 5V and is capable of sourcing or sinking 500 A, design a circuit that will produce an output that nominally swings between 0V and 3.3V (corresponding to 5V & 0V on the input) and is capable of sinking 10mA from an external device while maintaining an output voltage of no more than 0.1V and capable of sourcing 1mA while maintaining an output voltage of no less 3.1V.
