In the 2023/24 school year, sixty-seven Broward County Public Schools meet the School Board Policy 5000

threshold of
under-enrollment of permanent capacity utilization below seventy percent. This list includes forty-five elementary schools,
sixteen middle schools, five high schools, and one combination school. These sixty-seven schools represent 31.9 percent
of the District’s total 210 elementary, middle, high and combination schools, and 64.9 percent of all unfilled seats in the
District’s permanent capacity. Please note that center schools, which may have multiple daily sessions and/or adult
enrollment not reported in TERMS, are not included in this list, as their capacity usage may not be accurately captured in
standard reports. Also not included in this report are charter schools, whose capacity is not included in the Florida
Inventory of School Houses (FISH).

It is very important to note that the attached report does not in any way constitute a list of schools identified for repurposing
or consolidation, and does not imply any change or action on the part of the School Board is required to remedy under-
utilization. As Broward County Public Schools enters into the development of a comprehensive facilities master plan,
identifying available space for new programs, shared community uses, and income-generating lease opportunities will be
critical information for School Board Members as they make decisions that will transform the District to meet the needs of
students today and in the future.
