Lest We Forgets Patriotic Display November schedule changes

BENTON HARBOR, MI Lest We Forget has assembled a patriotic display of pictures, books, posters, statutes and memorials that depict patriotism. Scheduled display dates have been changed for November. Please note the dates and locations have been updated to the following: November 1-15 St. Joseph-Lincoln Senior Center in St. Joseph, and November 15-30 North Berrien Senior Center in Coloma. The display includes items such as an American Flag signed by Bob Heft, who designed our 50-star American Flag in 1958. This flag, which was signed by Bob on September 11, 2006 at Ground Zero in New York City, is on loan from the Heritage Museum and Cultural Center in St. Joseph. Also included in the display is a statute of Kelly, the Vietnam War Dog, which was on display on the streets of St. Joseph in 2010; a mannequin of a WWI soldier in uniform and a life-size replica of the Vietnam Memorial on the bluff in St. Joseph bearing the names of those from Berrien County killed in the Vietnam War. There are also large collages of pictures featuring the Lest We Forget programs: the Korean War; trips to see Frank Buckles, the last living American WWI veteran; Bob Hefts visits to Berrien County; the WWII, Korean and Vietnam classes held at Lake Michigan College; the WWII battle re-enactments of 2008 and 2009; the Vietnam Traveling Wall in 2010 and the Korean Tribute in 2011. In addition to the collages, there are numerous photographs of the above events. A large selection of books concerning the WWII, Korean and Vietnam Wars are contained with the collection. This assemblage is available for display in senior centers, libraries and other public areas. It has been featured in the Benton Harbor Post Office, Silver Beach Carousel, Four Flags Area Council on Tourism in Niles, Mendel Center and the public libraries of Benton Harbor, St Joseph, Sodus, Hartford and Eau Claire.
