COSMOSLINUX 0.2 version:

- cosmoslinux is a so called livecd that means that it can start/boot from cd. you don’t need
any hard drive to test cosmoslinux

- cosmoslinux is possible to install to hard drive from menu options

- hardware requirements: you need at least Pentium II 300 MHz processor computer, min.
192 MB RAM memory or more, VESA-compatible graphics card (with 8 MB or more), hard
drive (if you want to install to hard drive) min. 3 GB

- usernames: pomo & mopo, both have password that is ”salasana”. cosmoslinux ”real”
administrator is called root with password that is ”password”. pomo-user can use su-command
to be the root user by giving root password (=“password”). While logging in user can choose
from three different windowing systems: IceWM (lightest), Gnome or WindowMaker

- cosmoslinux includes following applications: Samba & Linneighborhood (Windows –

network) –logging in, TightVNC –remote connection, Mozilla Suite (Mail or Messenger),
Firefox, OpenOffice2 office programs, Xcdroast CD/DVD –burning, Scribus –desktop
publishing and Gimp –graphics program, VLC mediaplayer (audio&video), mplayerplugin-
extensions, Blender 3D-modelling (this version can also play audio and video from YLE Elävä
Arkisto).

- cosmoslinux holds only the most needed work applications. This is not exactly meant to be
for entertainment…

- cosmoslinux can contact Windows/Samba –network computers and utilize the resources that
are available there, and also NTFS / Windows-discpartitions are mountable

- cosmoslinux is possible to upgrade or add readymade applications using (easy)urpmi. you

just write command ”urpmi programname” in terminal window and give root password
