Hamilton Reflection on Artifact

This artifact was chosen for the fact that it is a lesson plan and gives all of the information on what I did in the classroom with my students on that particular day. Most importantly, it gives a full outline on how the classroom was ran and what the students did and what I wanted them to get out of their time in my classroom. My artifact addresses communication, instructional delivery, and planning for instruction. Communication is addressed in my artifact in the fact that I used communication in three different ways during my lesson. I had a game board set up in the classroom (visual), I asked my students questions throughout the lesson (verbal), and I used my body language to communicate to the students whether or not they were acting in an appropriate way and had an inviting manner about me (non-verbal). Also, I had to take into account while communicating with the students that they are in the 8th grade and younger than me so they may not know what certain words meant. Next, my artifact addresses instructional delivery in that the lesson was a review for an exam and the students had to use problem solving skills to come up with the answer to the Jeopardy game. I wanted the students to have a chance to see a different way of review by giving them a new way of instruction. Lastly, my artifact addresses planning for instruction in that I understand how to adjust my plans based on students responses. If I had students that would misbehave, I would have to ask them to return to their seat and review on their own. Or if I had students that were taking over the lesson, I would have to ask them to let others have a chance to review as well. What this article demonstrates about me as a developing teacher is that I am still growing and have much room for improvement but also that I am willing to try new things with students and based off of their reactions to it, I will be able to decide whether or not to try new things or try and reinvent the old things. It also demonstrates that I have knowledge of how to run a classroom and deliver a lesson plan to students and control the classroom. I have grown a lot throughout the time I have been in the education minor, but I still have a lot more growing to do throughout my career as a teacher.
