Question 1:

The figure above shows the instrument positions and readings for a small levelling survey. Book the readings using the HPC method, carry out the necessary calculation checks, misclosure check, and apply appropriate corrections. Determine the reduced level of the Control Stations A-F in metres to 2 decimal places.

Question 2:
In a two-peg, a level was set up approximately mid-way between two pegs X and Y which are 50 metres apart. The readings to the pegs were: Peg X 2.394 Peg Y 1.971 The level was then set up at a point Z, 5 metres beyond peg Y on the line XY and further readings taken as follows: Peg X 2.723 Peg Y 2.330 Calculate: 1. The collimation error in the level in the form aa mm / bb m 2. The staff readings required to correctly adjust the instrument.
