Automation is the process oI automatically perIorming everyday Iunctions
around the home to save you time, energy, money and at the same time oIIering
improved security. Basic idea oI Home automation using Telnet is conceived Irom router
conIiguration. As we use a remote terminal to access router instead oI console to
conIigure it, we have used the same way to control our controller instead oI router to
control our Home Appliances. The controllers 89c51 which is programmed such as that
when it receives the command through Telnet it processes on it and turns ON or OFF the
appliance as per command receive. Telnet server is used Ior interIacing. Server connects
controller with telnet remote PC through serial port i.e. DB9 and connects controller with
remote pc through internet medium i.e. TCP/IP.
The main objective oI the system is to automate all home/oIIice and security
processes. It is an objective oI the proposed security system to monitor unwanted intruder
activities through attached security device i.e. PIR motion detectors, Glass-break sensors
and etc and inIorm the user on real time using alarms. The objective oI the system is to
enable the user to monitor his property when he is not present there using security
cameras and also to provide Iacility to the user to track passed activities and events logs
by accessing web-based reports, tracking current status oI the system Irom anywhere in
the world using pocket paces, laptops and other devices.
