Shakespeare looked at the Holinshed's Chronicles in order to come up with names. the Holinshed's chronicles is the history of Britain. Banquo is the kings loyal subject in Macbeth. although in real life it is said that Banquo helped Macbeth kill the king. Shakespeare did this to please King James who was said to be the son of the real Banquo.

the Holinshed chronicles was the main source Shakespeare used to come up with the names for his characters. the Holinshed was written by Reginald Wolfe in 1577. it states the history of England, Scotland and Ireland
