Climbing Provision

1. Find a local rock climbing club (i.e. Avon, Bristol, Bath, Cheddar) and answer the following questions: Avon Moutaineering club a) What is the club called? Avon Moutaineering club b) Where and how often does the club meet? Our club trips are run by members on a voluntary basis. Each year we set out our itinerary for weekends away and longer trips for the coming 12 months. We have a secure Yahoo group, which we use for day to day communications. Members use the group to invite others out to climb and walk on an ad hoc basis. c) How do you join? Come to the pub to meet us; you can find us at the Pump House in Hotwells! Existing members meet every first Tuesday of the month at 8 pm. If you're heading along for the first time then please come along at 9 pm; we will have our club mascot with us Oswald the Owl d) Are beginners welcome? Yes all beginners are welcome, we are a group of committed climbers and walkers who get out as a much as possible our regular trips take us all over the UK and are very popular. The yahoo group makes it easy to contact other enthusiasts to share your passion with. e) Describe some of the areas where the club climbs? Avon gorge, wye valley, local area through out the year as well as indoors at undercover rocks.

Bristol Climbing Centre c) write a paragraph describing the wall / centre The church provides a unique atmosphere for the spectacular 12 metre high climbing walls, pillars, fins, overhangs and arches. We aim to provide imaginative and exciting climbing in a safe and welcoming environment for anyone who would like to experience the thrill of this exciting sport. We have over 150 routes from F3 to F8a and above which are regularly changed by a team of experienced route setters. Climbing indoors is a great way to keep fit throughout the year and many treat it as their local gym.
