CHARACTER ANALYSIS Explore the following details in order to gain a deeper understanding of your character. Be diligent and thorough.

Only then can you truly transform. a) Explore your characters history in detail, supplying what the script leaves out. Include the following: i) Personality What are your dreams? Goals? Fears? Inhibitions? ii) Job What do you do? What do you dream of doing? iii) Background Where born? Where lived? Education? Economic status? Religion? Philosophy? iv) Relationships Describe family, friends, lovers, role models, employers, important people in your life. v) Belongings What are your cherished possessions? Why? vi) Environment Where do you work, play, live? b) What do the characters actions reveal about him or herself? c) What do the other characters in the play say about your character? d) Where are the characters words and/or actions inconsistent? What does this reveal? e) What tactics can you observe being utilized? f) What is your characters general motivation (spine of play)? g) What is the specific motivation (for the scene or moment)? h) What are your characters obstacles to his/her goals? i) What sort of physical image represents your character? (animal, article of belongings) j) What are your characters sources of energy? (feet, hands, heart) Does a particular psychological gesture come to mind?
